Black Currant

Organic Black Tea-Small Batch-Made in the USA-Contains Caffeine

 

Black Currants are the fruit from the perennial Ribes plant and are enjoyed for their taste and their high Vitamin content. Originally native to northern Europe, Black currants are cultivated today in many areas. These berries, in addition to being enjoyed on their own, are found in many jellies, syrups and cordials. They are also a great accompaniment in sauces for savory dishes. The flavor of Black Currants is tart with a slight touch of sweetness. They have a pungent, musky flavor. This blend brews to a bright amber cup with the distinctive tart, sweet black currant taste.


Ingredients: Organic Black tea, blackberry leaves and black currants. Contains Caffeine.


Brew tea at 195º - Use 1-2 tsp. leaf per 8 oz. water. water. Allow boiling water to cool slightly, then pour over leaves. Steep 3 minutes.

 

Iced Tea: Prepare the loose tea: Use 1 teaspoon of loose leaf tea per 1 cup of water. For example, if you're making 8 cups of tea, then steep eight 8 teaspoons of loose tea leaves in 8 cups of hot water. Add an additional 1-2 teaspoons of tea leaves for a stronger, bolder flavor, or if using a delicately-flavored tea.

*Gallon: use 2 oz of loose leaf tea (roughly 1-1 1/2 cups depending on leaf size)
Once the hot water is ready, pour it over the tea leaves and steep for the blend's recommended period of time. 
To sweeten, add 1/4 cup of sugar or honey per 1 gallon of tea and adjust to taste. Be sure to add the sweetener while the tea is still hot and stir well until fully dissolved. 
Once steeped, pour the hot tea concentrate into a serving pitcher and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or let cool to room temperature and serve over extra ice.
