How to Use Balsamic Vinegar

Balsamic vinegar is delicious drizzled over salads, of course. But try it in cooked dishes, too. Balsamic vinegar holds onto its spicy kick, balancing the rich flavor of meat, poultry, and fish, and adding welcome acidity to vegetables. Some flavored balsamic vinegars are also great to add to fruit, cheesecake, poundcake, ice cream, yogurt, drinks, and more.

 

 

 

APPLE, PEAR AND CHEESE PANINI WITH CRANBERRY PEAR BALSAMIC

2 Tablespoons Verbena Tuscan Herb Olive Oil

4-6 slices of a Gala or Granny Smith Apple (sliced thin)

4-6 slices of Pear (sliced thin)

2 slices Italian Bread

¼ - Cup Brie or Gorgonzola Cheese (at room temperature)

1 - 1½ Tablespoons Verbena Cranberry Pear Balsamic

Directions:
Brush bread with your choice of olive oil on one side of each slice. Spread the cheese on the unprepared sides of the bread. Layer thinly sliced apples and pears on top of the cheese, drizzle the apples and pears with the Cranberry Pear Balsamic Vinegar. Grill on a Panini press or pan fry until warm and crisp

 

 

 

 

SWEET & SPICY FLANK STEAK

1/4 Cup Verbena Cranberry Pear Balsamic Vinegar 

2 tsp Dark Brown Sugar

1/4 Cup Verbena Citrus Habanero Olive Oil 
1/2 Onion, chopped

2 Clove Minced Garlic

1 1/2 LB Flank Steak 

Salt & Pepper to taste                                                    

Directions:
Combine olive oil, balsamic, brown sugar, onion, salt, pepper, and minced garlic in a large Ziplock bag.  Add steak, turn to coat, marinate for 30 minutes-2days in the refrigerator. 

Grill until desired doneness.  Let stand covered loosely with foil for 10 minutes, before cutting into thin strips against the grain.

If broiling is the desired cooking method, place steak on a broiler pan.  Place steak in the middle of the top rack 6 inches from the broiler unit.  Broil 6-8 minutes for medium rare.  Let steak rest for 10 minutes, slice against the grain and serve.
